Cockatiels Guide

Arent Cockatielss cute?Native to Australia, the Cockatiels can be described as a little bird with a big personality. Measuring up to 12 1/2 inches, Cockatiels, when tame, can be excellent pet birds, and an ideal choice for the first-time pet bird owner. Regarded as small Cockatoos, they are relatively inexpensive compared to the rest of the parrot family, and give superb value for the money. Generally, Cockatiels are grey with white wing patches, a yellow crest, yellow face and light red (range) cheek patches. They also come in an assortment of color mutations ranging from Pied to Lutino. Males are generally more colourful (both in looks and personality) than females. These delightful, intelligent little parrots are relatively easy to train, and love to sing! They can easily be taught to whistle a tune or say a few (almost intelligible) phrases. When tame (hand-fed babies are your best choice), these birds thrive on human companionship and can be somewhat demanding. A solid commitment to the birds care and companionship is a must when considering acquiring one.
